How Many Taxes Are Merged or Replaced into GST India?
Before the Launch of GST there were many types of Different Taxes in Different States In India, Therefore The Price of products was vary by state by state . Thus A single GST replaced several existing taxes and levies which include: central excise duty, services tax, additional customs duty, surcharges, state-level value added tax and Octroi. Other levies which were applicable on inter-state transportation of goods has also been done away with in GST regime.
The following taxes will be replaced by the GST:
- Central Excise Duty
- Commercial Tax
- Value Added Tax (VAT)
- Food Tax
- Central Sales Tax (CST)
- Entertainment Tax
- Entry Tax
- Purchase Tax
- Luxury Tax
- Advertisement tax
- Service Tax
- Customs Duty
The proposed tax system will take the form of “dual GST” which is concurrently levied by central and state government. This will comprise of:
Central GST (CGST) which will be levied by Centre
State GST (SGST) Which will be levied by State
Integrated GST (IGST) – which will be levied by Central Government on inter-State supply of goods and services.
